This online module will teach you how Yoga Therapy can support conventional treatments for hormonal and autoimmune disorders. You’ll learn about the physiology of the endocrine and immune systems, the role of Yoga Therapy in supporting these systems, and specific Yoga practices, breathing and relaxation techniques that can help to improve your endocrine and immune health. You’ll also learn about the immune response to viral infections and the process behind cytokine storms, with specific reference to the current information available on Covid-19.

Learning objectives

  1. Understand the anatomy, physiology, and functioning of the endocrine and immune systems.
  2. Apply the knowledge of the development of disease to recognise symptoms, pathology, and contraindications of endocrine and immune system health issues, including autoimmune diseases, diabetes, skin disorders, and more.
  3. Adapt a personalised intake and establish a therapeutic relationship within the scope of practice for Yoga Therapy.
  4. Apply safe and effective Yoga Therapy tools for clients with endocrine and immune system health issues.
  5. Recognise red flags and when to refer clients to medical professionals.
  6. Understand the psychological and emotional impacts of chronic diseases and develop compassionate client communication skills.
  7. Collaborate with clients’ medical teams and navigate challenging situations with professional boundaries and support from supervisors.
  8. Understand the process of disease from an Ayurvedic perspective and interpret case studies from traditional Yogic models.

  • 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training certification from Yoga Alliance or equivalent
  • One year of Yoga teaching experience
  • One year of personal Yoga practice
  • Fluent in English
  • Minimum 18 years old

Yes, this module is approved for 50 Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Credits (CECs) for anyone who completes the module as of September 2023. Upon completion, you can request a digital certification that you can submit to Yoga Alliance.

The end-of-module test is an online test that covers the content of the module. You’ll have full access to the module materials during the test, so you can refer to them as needed. The test will include multiple-choice and long-answer questions, but you’ll have the opportunity to resubmit your answers if you’re not satisfied with your first attempt.

The goal of the test is to assess your understanding of the material and your ability to apply it to practise. It’s not intended to be a difficult test, but it will encourage you to have a good understanding of the material.

The test will be open for submission for 2 months after the end of the module. This means that you’ll have plenty of time to study and prepare for the test.
