Meet Coen
Coen van der Kroon has dedicated his life to understanding the Indian health science of Ayurveda.
Coen has an academic background in Greek and Latin Languages and Culture (M.A. since 1989). He wrote his thesis on ancient Greek gynaecology with a comparison between Hippocratic and Ayurvedic medicine, which was the start of his interest in and study of Ayurveda. Once he completed his studies, he commenced his regular travels to India for spiritual interests and Yoga and Central and South America to explore shamanism and plant medicine.
It has been Coen’s mission to clarify the ancient Eastern advice for disease prevention and day-to-day health, so the modern Western mind understands its implications. He shares his expertise by publishing articles for several magazines and books, one of which is an international bestseller. He is also well-known for his teachings at the Academy of Ayurvedic Studies (AAS) in the Netherlands, which he founded in 2005. In 2017, the AAS has merged with Delight Academy Ayurveda, which in the summer of 2023 continued as Ayurveda Academy The Netherlands. Coen is currently Programme Director, as well as one of the main teachers, in this Bachelor-level accredited institute.

Coen also attended the Ayurvedic Institute for 3 years with Dr Vasant Lad, studied in the USA and has substantial hands-on experience in India. In the field of yoga, his roots are to be found in the Kashmir yoga tradition inspired by Jean Klein.
