Safety in Yoga Nidra & Relaxation

12 hours (2 Days Online)

This two-day online module is open to Yoga Therapy trainees, yoga teachers, and healthcare professionals. You’ll learn the foundations of Yoga Nidra—how to prepare and guide a safe, trauma-informed practice.

The module covers setting up clients in restorative positions, using props, sound, and voice to create a supportive environment, and recognising contraindications or challenging responses. You’ll gain the skills to confidently integrate Yoga Nidra into your personal or professional practice.

“Yoga Nidra is an effortless and nourishing yoga practice that involves no physical
movement, simply resting and listening. It is an adaptive, meditative state of being that
anyone can access to find healing, nourishment, and liberation."
Uma Dinsmore-Tuli

Yoga Nidra is a powerful yogic practice that has been shown to have a number of benefits, including improved sleep, reduced anxiety and depression, enhanced focus and concentration, and increased self-awareness and mindfulness.

Yoga Nidra is generally safe for most people, but there are some contraindications, including recent surgery, serious medical conditions, epilepsy, panic disorder, claustrophobia, and inability to lie still. It is important to deliver these techniques in a responsible way, as they may not be safe for everyone.

In this module, you’ll learn to recognise the signs that may indicate when these practices could be contraindicated for your student or client.

At The Yoga Therapy Institute we are committed to providing accessible learning experiences for all students. If you have a disability and need accommodations, please feel free to contact us.
