Introduction
Welcome to The Yoga Therapy Institute! We are very happy to welcome you to one of our Yoga Therapy Courses or Modules. In these Participation Terms, we explain in a clear and transparent way the conditions that apply when participating in any of our Courses or Modules. We encourage you to read these Terms carefully.

Interpretation
The following definitions apply to these Participation Terms:
Yoga Therapy Training Requirements
the handbook including the training requirements for the Courses.
Admission Prerequisites
the specific requirements or qualifications a Participant must meet to be accepted into a Course or Module.
Community Guidelines
the norms, rules, responsibilities, and proper conduct expected within The Yoga Therapy Institute.
Contract
the agreement between The Yoga Therapy Institute and the Participant for participation in the Course(s) or Module(s) in accordance with these Participation Terms.
Course(s)
the 875- and 625-hour yoga therapy diploma courses, consisting of multiple Modules, case studies, mentorship and additional coursework, organised by The Yoga Therapy Institute.
Enrolment
the Participant’s enrolment in the Course or Modules by completing the application form, meeting eligibility criteria, and agreeing to the Terms set by The Yoga Therapy Institute.
GDPR
the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679.
IP Rights
all intellectual property and related rights, including (but not limited to) copyrights, trademarks, design rights and trade secrets.
Module(s)
all individual yoga therapy Modules forming part of a Course, and all individual modules or short courses attended on a stand-alone basis.
Participant (or “you”)
the natural person enrolled for participation in a Course or Module.
Participation Terms
these general terms and conditions for participation in Courses and Modules.
Parties
the Participant and The Yoga Therapy Institute collectively.
Registration
the process of registering for a specific Module. Registration is confirmed only once payment has been successfully processed.
Student Handbook
the handbook including general information about The Yoga Therapy Institute and the Courses/Modules.
The Yoga Therapy Institute (or “we”)
The Mango Tree B.V., trading as The Yoga Therapy Institute, headquartered at Stadionkade 41-3, 1077 VP Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

1. Basis of Contract
1.1 Applicability.
These Participation Terms apply to all Contracts between the Participant and The Yoga Therapy Institute. We explicitly reject any other terms proposed by the Participant.
1.2 Application Form.
Completion of the Application Form does not automatically confirm Enrolment.
1.3 Confirmation.
Enrolment is accepted only once you receive our email confirmation. Registration for a Module is guaranteed only after payment is received.
1.4 Other Terms.
The Student Handbook, Yoga Therapy Training Requirements, and the Community Guidelines form part of the Contract and apply alongside these Terms. These documents may be updated from time to time with notice to the Participant.
2. Courses and Modules
2.1 Availability.
Places are limited. Booking in advance is strongly recommended.
2.2 Waitlist.
If a Module is full, you may join the waitlist. We cannot guarantee placement.
2.3 Requirements.
Any requirements for participating in a Course or Module can be found on the Website, the Student Handbook, the Training Requirements, or provided in writing.
2.4 Admission Prerequisites.
The general prerequisites include:

200-hour yoga teacher training certification
-
one year of teaching OR therapeutic/medical experience
-
one year of personal yoga practice
-
minimum age of 18
-
fluent in English
Some Modules or coursework have additional prerequisites.
2.5 Virtual Classroom.
Prior to a Module, you receive access to a private Virtual Classroom (e.g., LearnWorlds or Google Classroom). Materials remain accessible after completion.
2.6 Our obligations.
We shall:
-
organise Courses and Modules with reasonable care and skill;
-
align with IAYT standards where applicable;
-
use reasonable efforts to meet dates specified on the Website.
2.7 Participant obligations.
You shall:
-
inform us of any physical or mental health conditions relevant to your safety or learning;

participate mindfully and safely;
-
refrain from behaviour detrimental to TYTI or other Participants;
-
comply with the Student Handbook and Community Guidelines.
2.8 Materials.
You receive the materials relevant to the Module/Course you attend. You are not entitled to materials from other cohorts.
2.9 Online Modules.
You may be asked to keep your camera on. Online sessions are recorded for personal study within your Virtual Classroom, stored only with your consent.
3. Fees and Costs
3.1 Fees.
Fees are as listed on the Website at the time of Registration. Prices may change but will not affect completed purchases.
3.2 Other costs.
Books, props, travel, meals, and other personal expenses are your responsibility unless otherwise stated.
3.3 VAT.
Prices are listed inclusive of VAT unless noted otherwise.
3.4 Discounts.
Discounts or promo codes cannot be combined or applied retroactively and may be modified or discontinued at any time.
4. Payment Terms
4.1 Payment methods.
Payments are made directly through the Website using available payment options (Shopify Payments, iDEAL, credit card, Klarna, etc.).
4.2 Diploma payment plans.
Payment plans are available solely to diploma students. Conditions are outlined on the Pricing & Payment page or in a separate agreement.
4.3 Confirmation of Registration.
Registration is confirmed only after successful payment.
4.4 Payment security.
Payments are processed through secure third-party systems. TYTI implements appropriate security measures. Access is restricted to authorised personnel.
4.5 Non-payment.
If a payment fails or a payment plan instalment is missed, access may be suspended or Registration cancelled if not resolved promptly.
5. Cancellation, Transfer and Refund
5.1 General.
All requests must be submitted in writing to shortcourses@theyogatherapyinstitute.org.
5.2 On-demand Courses and Modules
Refunds are available within 14 days of purchase, provided that you have not accessed the materials.
Access means opening, viewing, or downloading any part of the digital content.
Once accessed, the purchase becomes non-refundable.
5.3 Live Short Courses and Live Modules
Refunds are available within 14 days of purchase AND before the scheduled start date.
Once the Course or Module begins, no refunds are provided.
5.4 Diploma payment plans
Instalments are non-refundable after the Course begins. Any outstanding instalments covering completed Course components remain payable.
5.5 Transfers (rescheduling)
You may request a transfer if:
-
for live Courses/Modules: the start date has not yet passed
-
for on-demand Courses/Modules: no materials have been accessed
Transfers are subject to availability. TYTI may decline repeated or excessive transfer requests. Fee differences will be settled before confirmation.
5.6 Cancellation by TYTI
(a) Insufficient enrolment.
If TYTI cancels due to low enrolment, you may choose:
-
a full refund, or
-
a transfer to another Course/Module
(b) Unforeseen circumstances.
If TYTI cancels or adjusts delivery due to events beyond our control, you may choose:

a proportional refund for the cancelled portion, or
-
a transfer
(c) Refund timing.
Refunds will be processed within 30 days.
6. Attendance and Refund
6.1 Attendance.
If you miss sessions or do not attend, you are not entitled to refunds beyond what is described in Article 5.
6.2 Missed classes.
Recordings are provided when available. In exceptional situations (e.g., illness), a rescheduled session may be offered at TYTI’s discretion.
6.3 Essential attendance.
For some Modules, live attendance may be required for safety or assessment reasons.
7. Termination
7.1 Term
The Contract remains in effect until completion of the Course or Module.
7.2 Termination by TYTI
TYTI may terminate the Contract with immediate effect if:
-
the Participant fails to pay any amount due,
-
behaviour indicates the Participant is unsuitable to practise as a yoga therapist, after consultation,
-
the Participant misuses materials or violates laws.
7.3 Termination by Participant
The Participant may terminate the Contract if TYTI is declared bankrupt or equivalent.
7.4 Consequences of termination
Upon termination:
-
all outstanding fees must be paid immediately;
-
materials must be returned or access discontinued.
7.5 Survival
Any clause intended to survive termination remains in full force.
8. Intellectual Property Rights and Confidentiality
8.1 IP Rights
All Course and Module materials are the property of TYTI. No IP rights are transferred.
8.2 Confidentiality
Course materials may contain confidential information. Participants may not copy, distribute, share, or exploit them without explicit written permission.
8.3 License
A limited, non-transferable, non-sublicensable licence is granted for personal educational use only.
9. Liability
9.1 Gross negligence
Nothing limits liability for death or personal injury caused by gross negligence or fraud.
9.2 Participant’s risk
Participation in Courses and Modules is at the Participant’s own risk. TYTI is not liable for injury, loss, or damage resulting from participation.
9.3 Exclusion of liability
TYTI is not liable for delays or failure due to Participant actions or external circumstances.
9.4 Force majeure
Neither party is liable for failure caused by events beyond their control.
9.5 Limitation
TYTI’s liability is limited to the fees paid for the Course or Module.
10. Privacy
10.1 Responsible party
TYTI processes personal data responsibly and in accordance with GDPR.

10.3 Legal basis
Processing is based on:

10.4 Retention
Personal data is not kept longer than necessary. Retention periods are:

Contact & experience data: up to 2 years after completion

Medical data: up to 2 years after completion

Video footage: up to 2 years or until consent is withdrawn
10.5 Third parties
Data is only shared when necessary for delivery of the Contract. A data processing agreement applies.
10.6 Protection
TYTI implements strong technical and organisational measures to protect personal data.

11. General
11.1 Notices.
Notices must be sent by email.
11.2 Complaints.
Complaints must be sent to info@theyogatherapyinstitute.org and will be reviewed in consultation with the Supervisory Board. Details are in the Student Handbook.
11.3 Governing law.
Dutch law applies; disputes shall be resolved by the competent court in Amsterdam.
