Learn how to safely apply the therapeutic tools of Asana, Pranayama, and Restorative Yoga to support your clients’ individual needs.
This module explores the physical, psychological, and energetic aspects of diverse practices, their contraindications, and appropriate modifications. You’ll gain confidence in adapting Yoga Therapy for different populations, including people with disabilities, while using trauma-informed language for safe and effective results.
Who is this course for?
This course is designed for Yoga Therapy trainees currently in training to become certified yoga therapists, as well as experienced yoga teachers who wish to deepen their understanding of Yoga Therapy principles and applications. It also welcomes healthcare professionals—including medical doctors, physiotherapists, coaches, and other therapeutic practitioners—who are interested in integrating a multidisciplinary approach into their work.

- 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training certification from Yoga Alliance or equivalent
- One year of Yoga teaching experience
- One year of personal Yoga practice
- Fluent in English
- Minimum 18 years old

Yes, this module is approved for 50 Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Credits (CECs) for anyone who completes the module as of September 2023. Upon completion, you can request a digital certification that you can submit to Yoga Alliance.
*Earlier attended modules do not qualify.
The price of the module includes access to all live module lectures, unlimited access to the educational platform, including written materials, presentations, full recordings, practice videos, audio files, and assignments. The price of the module doesn’t include books from the reading list, yoga mats or props, or any other materials or equipment that may be required for the module.

The specific props that will be used in the module will vary depending on the subject being discussed and the needs of the students and clients. However, some of the most common props that are used in Yoga Therapy include yoga mats, blankets, bolsters, cushions, chairs, eye pillows, straps, blocks, and exercise balls.
If you don’t have all of the props, don’t worry! You can improvise with household items. For example, you can use a rolled-up towel instead of a bolster or a pillow instead of a block.
The purpose of the assessment is to gather information about the client so that you can develop a personalised Yoga Therapy session. After the assessment, you’ll be asked to write a report to help you to reflect on your experience.
