Your feet don’t usually get much attention – until something starts to feel off.
A slight instability. Tightness that doesn’t quite go away. A niggle in the knee or lower back that seems unrelated, but keeps returning.
In Yoga Therapy, we often begin here. Not because the feet are the problem, but because they are the foundation.
How your feet move, stabilise, and respond to the ground beneath you has a direct influence on everything above them. When that foundation is compromised – through restriction, weakness, or compensation – the effects travel. Into the joints, into the spine, and into long-term patterns of movement that can be difficult to unwind.
This short practice offers a simple way to reconnect with your feet and restore some of that foundational support.
Whether you’re managing a musculoskeletal issue, working with neuropathy, or simply noticing the early signs of imbalance, these exercises are designed to be accessible, effective, and easy to integrate into your day.
What’s important here is not just the exercises themselves, but what they represent.
In Yoga Therapy, we’re not only looking at isolated areas of discomfort. We’re looking at how the body organises itself as a whole – and how small, targeted interventions can create meaningful change over time.
The feet are often the starting point for that work.
Because when you improve the way the feet function, you’re not just addressing local discomfort. You’re influencing balance, alignment, and the way load is distributed throughout the entire body.
