COURSE OVERVIEW

Teaching teenagers can feel daunting even for experienced yoga professionals. Yet adolescence is one of the most important stages for introducing the foundations of resilience, interoception, proprioception, emotional regulation, and self-understanding. In this specialist training, Montserrat G. Mukherjee will guide you in developing the knowledge and confidence to support teens through yoga therapy in a way that is respectful, engaging, and age-appropriate, never patronising or forced.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Each 2-hour session combines theoretical insight, guided practice, and reflective discussion. You’ll explore how yoga therapy can meet the physical, emotional, and cognitive needs of teenagers, particularly during high-stress periods such as exam season.

This training includes:

  • 6 hours of live presentations
  • Access to the full recording after the sessions
  • Supporting written materials
  • Email access to experienced C-IAYT teachers for topic-related questions
  • A Certificate of Attendance with 6 Yoga Alliance CE points will be provided for those who attend all hours of the training live!

What will you learn

  • Teen physiology and brain development, and how they influence attention, mood, and motivation.
  • Common health concerns in adolescents, including sleep disruption, nervous system dysregulation, hormonal changes, and emerging joint issues.
  • How to adapt language, pace, and environment to meet teens where they are without “talking down” to them.
  • Somatic, breath, rest, and humour-based practices that teach self-regulation through lightness rather than strict discipline.
  • How to build trust and autonomy so teens feel empowered rather than instructed.

Who Can join this training?

Yoga therapists, yoga teachers, and educators who wish to build confidence in supporting adolescents and cultivate safe, inclusive spaces that empower teens to develop self-awareness and emotional resilience.
