How to make an appointment with one of our yoga therapists

2. We will send you an email with the yoga therapist in your area that we recommend, according to your profile.

Yoga Therapists trained at The Yoga Therapy Institute

The therapists that we recommend are IAYT- Certified or senior students at The Yoga Therapy Institute. Many of them are medical professionals or specialized in specific areas such as autism, the elderly or children’s care.

They all follow The Yoga Therapy Institute’s principles of safety and they are trained to recognize the need for further referral to the relevant medical specialist. They are bound to the code of professional ethics and scope of practice of the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) and work under the supervision of an IAYT-Certified senior yoga therapist.

We have many students in the Netherlands and most countries in Europe and beyond, such as Turkey, Egypt, and Canada, and yoga therapy sessions can be offered in different languages.

What you can expect

You can expect to meet your yoga therapist at a local yoga studio or at The Yoga Therapy Institute’s location if you are based in Amsterdam. Sometimes, a home visit might be necessary if you suffer from a disability or you feel too unwell to move.

The first session will involve a full-intake when you will discuss your personal needs and when you will make a Yoga Therapy outline of treatment with your therapist.

The second session will include diagnostic physical movements and physical observations, breathing practices and introduction to relaxation techniques, if appropriate.

We generally recommend a series of Yoga Therapy sessions taken regularly, preferably once a week, for at least 10 weeks. However, this is something to be discussed with your therapist, as every case is individual and all treatments will be adapted to your own needs.
